Downloading and Installing Your QuickBooks Payment

Plug-in (First-Time Skipjack Plug-in Users)


This page describes how to download and install the software for the Skipjack Payment Plug-in for QuickBooks. Please follow these instructions if you have not previously installed the Plug-in.  It is important that you read the following instructions and follow the steps in sequence prior to installing the software in order to avoid potential errors .

NOTE: Detailed installation instructions are described in the “Installing Skipjack Payment Plug-in for QuickBooks on your Computer” section of the Skipjack QuickBooks Plug-in for Windows User Guide . It is strongly recommended that you read this User Guide, as well as watch the online tutorial , in order to avoid installation and usage errors.

  1. Click here to begin the Plug-in download .
  2. Save the ZIP file to a location on your computer. You must manually delete this file, if desired, after installation.
  3. Close your QuickBooks application.
  4. You must install the software from within a Windows User Account that has “Administrator” rights. If you logged as limited user, logout and login as user with "Administrator" rights (or login as "Administrator").
  5. Double-click on the installation (ZIP) file (downloaded previously) to access the installation files.
  6. Double click the Setup.exe file to start the software installation.
  7. Choose the appropriate options for your computer in each dialog box displayed (please refer to the User Guide for the appropriate options). A success confirmation is displayed when the software installation has completed.
  8. Launch your QuickBooks application to start the Plug-in. On first use, it is very important that you configure the plug-in properly or errors may occur. In particular, it is important to complete the following steps:

    a) Grant the Plug-in access rights to the QuickBooks company file
    b) Enter your merchant name and address information in the Setup area
    c) Enter your Skipjack account credentials in the Credentials area
    d) Disable your printer (if not being used to print receipts with each payment)
